The Member of the Board of Trustees representing North Central at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and Founder of ENACT, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, has expressed profound grief over the passing of Chief Sunday Olosunde, a distinguished community leader, development advocate, and proud son of Kwara South, who died on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Describing Chief Olosunde as “a pillar of integrity, grassroots mobilizer, and champion of public accountability,” Engr. Adeyemi recalled the late Chief’s impactful service as a former Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State and his passionate advocacy for transparency in governance. Notably, Chief Olosunde had called on the Federal Government as far back as 2005 to implement a Due Process mechanism in monitoring allocations to states and local governments—a stance that positioned him as a forward-thinking leader committed to the fight against corruption.
A core figure in the historic 2019 ‘Otoge’ movement, Chief Sunday Olosunde served as the Campaign Director-General for Senator Lola Ashiru, helping deliver a resounding mandate that redefined the political direction of Kwara South and the state at large. His devotion to community progress, youth mobilization, and democratic values earned him the respect of both elders and the younger generation.
Until his passing, Chief Olosunde remained a trusted political figure in Ekiti Local Government and a rallying point for progressive voices in Kwara South.
